What Is an Accessible Website?
An accessible website is one that enables everyone, including seniors and people with disabilities, to use it with the same level of ease and enjoyment. According to a 2003 Microsoft study, around 20-25% of the population has difficulties using the internet and may benefit from more accessible online content. Electra Concessions believes in and strives to ensure equal opportunities online for people with various disabilities and/or those using assistive computer technologies.
Accessible Website Symbol
The “Accessible Website” symbol is an initiative of Access Israel in collaboration with the Israel Internet Association. It is shown on websites that have implemented the necessary adaptations to make them accessible to people with disabilities. The symbol promotes public awareness of online accessibility and also informs visitors to the site about its accessibility level.
Website Accessibility
The website complies with the requirements of the Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities (Service Accessibility Adaptations) Regulations, 2013-5773. It also complies with the recommendations of the Israeli standard (SII 5568) for online content accessibility (Level AA) and the recommendations of the WCAG 2.0 document published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). The website is optimized for display in the most common internet browsers and on mobile phones.
Adaptations
The website has undergone careful accessibility adaptations, such as providing an informative semantic structure for assistive technologies, supporting keyboard-only navigation and use in accordance with the recommendations of the W3C, enabling color adjustments, and adding help labels and instructions in forms for the benefit of all users. When using a screen reader, it is recommended to use the latest NVDA software for the best browsing experience.
